CVA Grants available for maintenance of pump out facilties.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association (RIMTA) to streamline and expedite Clean Vessel Act (CVA) grants for maintaining marine pump-out infrastructure across the state.
What the RIMTA/CVA Maintenance Program Offers
The RIMTA/CVA Maintenance Program provides grants to private businesses and municipalities that own and operate public-access boating facilities. These grants, funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) CVA grant program, cover essential maintenance costs for both marine and land-based pump-out facilities, enabling boaters to properly and conveniently dispose of sewage.
Why It Matters
With close to 40,000 registered boats in Rhode Island, the CVA grant program plays a critical role in empowering recreational boaters to protect our local waters. Narragansett Bay is central to Rhode Island’s environment, way of life, and economy. By simplifying the grant process, this program ensures that marine facilities statewide have the resources needed to keep pump-out stations operational, promoting cleaner and safer waters for everyone.
