PROGRAM NAME: Marine Trades Core Training Program

PROGRAM TYPE: Entry Level Training

PROGRAM DATES: 3/11/19 – 3/29/19

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

3 weeks of training.

Monday-Friday.

8am-4pm daily.

WHERE DOES THE TRAINING TAKE PLACE?

This training will take place at the CCRI Campus in Newport and also at a shipyard located in Quonset Point, North Kingstown, RI.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

This program is for individuals seeking entry level jobs at a boat yard, marina, or marine manufacturer. No boating experience is required. If you enjoy working with your hands and have other interests and skills — such as carpentry or working with engines — these programs will help you start a marine career.

WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?

Some of the skills that will be covered in this training include:

  • CPR/First Aid
  • Customer Service
  • Financial Literacy
Hands on Training:
  • Marine Coatings
  • Painting/varnishing
  • Hand tools and power tools
  • Propulsion systems
  • Diesel engines
  • Outboard Engines
  • Electrical
  • Carpentry

WHAT OUTCOME CAN I EXPECT?

The goal of this program is to place every participant into a full time position at a boat yard, marina or marine manufacturer.

WHAT IS THE COST?

There is no cost to participate in this program.
