Organized with Ship to Shore Crew Placement Agency in Newport, the three-day program runs from Tuesday, June 5 to Thursday, June 7. Instruction takes place from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm each day in Newport, both in a classroom and onboard yachts.

This is a free training program available only to Rhode Island residents over age 18. The program is a great opportunity if you are unemployed or underemployed and looking to start a new career direction this summer.

Crews working on a luxury superyacht typically live onboard and travel with the yachts as they follow the sun. An entire team is needed to run these yachts. Crewmembers need technical skills to operate and maintain the yachts, as well as skills in hospitality.

RIMTA’s three-day program will give students an introduction to the entry-level skills and certifications needed to build a career as a yacht crew. Students will also get an opportunity to meet captains and crews who will be looking for help in preparing their boats for the upcoming charter season in New England.

If you are an adventurous person who loves to travel, someone with good mechanical skills, have hospitality experience, or are unemployed and looking for a new direction, this is a great way to start a career as a charter-yacht crew. No boating experience is needed to apply to the program.
