S.A.L.T.Y. (Seamanship And Leadership Training for Youths) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, charitable organization, founded to teach young men and women, seamanship and leadership skills aboard sailing vessels as learn about the sea and discover themselves.   Please go to www.starboundadventures.org for more information and see “STARBOUND’S” video.

Please Note: Starbound is having new masts built and installed this summer.

This S.A.L.T.Y. Charter is with three boats.  A 44′ FP 2015 Catamaran, a 43 Hunter monohull and a 38′ Ericson monohull, with the possibility of also including a 50′ George Stadel Schooner – “Golden Goose” (a wooden vessel with traditional rigging in exceptional condition!)
All three boats will be rafted up each evening either on a mooring or in a safe harbor.  We are looking for a captain for either the 43′ Hunter or the 38′ Ericson.

Attending this S.A.L.T.Y. Charter is a high adventure Boy Scouts Troop. They and their leaders are very experienced, having been to BSA Camp Philmont in New Mexico, the BSA Florida Sea Base and other high adventure programs. A deck hand will be provided for each boat’s Captain.
Captains responsibility is fairly light duty, with only sailing the boat and commanding the ship.  All meals are provided for the Captain and the activities are coordinated by S.A.L.T.Y. and the Troops Adult Staff.

The entire charter will be within the protected surrounding waters of Narragansett Bay, with overnights on Prudence Island, Jamestown Island, Bissel Cove, and Newport Harbor.

Please contact Capt. Dave Pickering, S.A.L.T.Y., at (401) 742-5039 with any questions.
